Meet DSquared's First Creative Director, Matt Haggerty

Matt Haggerty DSquared Hospitality Company at Muse at Benaroya Hall

For 30+ years our company was rooted in a balance between creative visions and business brass tacks. When co-owner, and co-David, David Meckstroth retired from DSquared at the end of 2021, the company lost its chief eye for aesthetics.

We are happy to officially announce a new role at DSquared, following in David Meckstroth’s legacy and breathing new life into our company’s creative future.

Meet Matt Haggerty

All of the DSquared Team, and many of our vendor partners and clients, know Matt Haggerty. As one of the sons of owners David and Meg Haggerty, Matt has worked at Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes at various points throughout his life – from warehouse shifts, to managing the onsite details of events as a Lead Server, to his most recent role as a full-time Staffing & HR Assistant in 2022.

This year, Matt transitioned from staffing operations to focusing all of his attention on DSquared’s visual identity, vendor partnerships, and ongoing creative projects, eventually growing into the role of Creative Director.

As our Creative Director, Matt works with teams across each DSquared location to maintain visual and experiential consistency, as well as create unique and trend-setting moments. “There is no better feeling than creating a vibe, an experience, a one of a kind feeling to give someone hope, to show them we care.” Says Matt, who draws on his diverse life experiences to push our creative decisions into new territories. “My travels around the world have gifted me a decade of perspective and opportunity. I have worked in kitchens deep in the jungle, foraging all of the food we cooked, set tables for the upper echelon on the edges of the Pacific coast, and dined in local hotspots around the globe that serve fresh local cuisine.”

Matt marries his eclectic travels and passions with a deep knowledge of his family business - from early memories of picking up rose petals after weddings, folding napkins, and crushing peppermints for holiday bark, to years spent as a sever at our catered events.

DSquared Hospitality Brand Refresh

Matt began his tenure as Creative Director by leading the charge on refreshing DSquared’s visual identity. This project will allow DSquared Hospitality, Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes, and our family of other brands to embody modern and cohesive logos and imagery that reflect our current company identity and our position within the hospitality landscape.

We can’t wait to show you the fruits of this delicate labor in upcoming months!
